🔔 Notifications not showing
Most common cause: Chrome's notification permission is blocked. This takes 30 seconds to fix.
-
1Open Chrome Settings Click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner → Settings
-
2Go to Privacy and Security → Site settings Then click "Notifications"
-
3Check if notifications are allowed The default setting should be "Sites can ask to send notifications". If it says "Don't allow sites to send notifications", change it.
-
4Restart Chrome Fully close and reopen Chrome, then open the RentPulse extension and make sure monitoring is toggled ON.
-
5Test with the test button In the RentPulse popup, click "Test Notification" — you should see a sample alert within a few seconds.
⚠️ Not getting alerts for new listings
- Make sure the monitoring toggle in the popup is turned ON (green)
- Check your filters — if your area or price range is too specific, there may simply be no matching properties yet
- Free tier checks every 15 minutes — a new listing could appear and go fast before the next check
- Make sure Chrome is running and not suspended — close sleeping tabs to keep the extension active
- Try widening your location (e.g. "Dublin" instead of "Dublin 4") or increasing your max price slightly
- Check the extension popup for any scan error messages shown in red
🐌 Alerts are too slow
- Free tier: alerts every 15 minutes minimum
- Pro tier: alerts as fast as every 2 minutes
- Keep Chrome open in the background — a closed browser cannot check for new listings
- On a laptop: disable battery saver mode, which can pause background processes
- Avoid putting your laptop to sleep if you want continuous monitoring
🔧 Extension not working at all

-
2Check the extension is enabled The toggle on the RentPulse extension card should be blue/on
-

❓ Common questions
Does RentPulse work when Chrome is closed?
No. RentPulse runs as a Chrome extension and requires Chrome to be open and running. For the best results, keep a Chrome window open in the background while you are actively searching for a property.
Why does the extension open tabs when scanning?
RentPulse scans rental sites by briefly opening them in a background tab, reading the listings, and then closing the tab. You may notice tabs appearing and closing quickly — this is normal and is how the extension monitors sites in real time without a server.
I got an alert but the listing was already gone
Ireland's rental market is extremely competitive. Good properties often receive dozens of enquiries within minutes. To maximise your chances, upgrade to Pro for 2-minute monitoring intervals, and have your viewing request template ready to send the moment you receive an alert.
Can I set up alerts for multiple areas?
Pro users can save up to 5 search profiles, each with different locations, price ranges, and property types. Free users get one profile. You can switch between profiles in the extension popup.
Does RentPulse work on mobile?
RentPulse is a Chrome desktop extension. On mobile, sign up with your email on the RentPulse website to receive email alerts for new matching properties.
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
Open the RentPulse extension popup and go to the account section. There is a "Cancel subscription" option. You can also email support@rentpulse.ie and we will cancel it for you immediately.
Which sites does RentPulse monitor?
RentPulse monitors: Daft.ie, MyHome.ie, Rent.ie, Letting.ie, PropertyPal, PropertyNews, and TheHomeShare.ie — covering all major Irish rental listing sources.
